The Chapel Bridge is Lucerne's landmark and one of the oldest wooden bridges in Europe. Walk across the 204-meter-long bridge, discover the historical paintings and enjoy the view of the Reuss River and the Old Town.

The Musegg Wall towers over Lucerne and offers you history and views in one. Climb the medieval towers and enjoy the view of the lake, the city and the Alpine panorama.

On 18 May 1478 the people of Zug, under the direction of Hans Felder, laid the foundation stone for this late-Gothic church. The main entrance is flanked up on the left and right by the city’s patron saints, Oswald and Michael.

The present name of this highest tower with the strongest walls was taken from the Capuchin monastery that was built in the vicinity in 1595.

The southeastern corner of the former town fortification, the Gunpowder Tower, was built between 1522 and 1532 and was used to store gunpowder. Its external diameter is about 14 m, the inner diameter 8.5 m.

The Lucerne hotel icon, modelled after Neuschwanstein Castle, was built by Emil Vogt in 1888 in one of Switzerland’s finest hotel locations. Martyn Lawrence Bullard, a world-renown interior designer, has revived the historic charm of Château Gütsch, putting great emphasis on small details – from the stuccoed ceiling to the hand-painted wood panelling. Just as in years past, the view from the rooftops of the old town over Lake Lucerne and the mountains is still spectacular.

Richard Wagner lived here on the shores of Lake Lucerne for six years. The museum named after him is surrounded by an extensive park right by the lake, offering unique views of the mountains. The park can be reached within a 30-minute walk from Lucerne, along a wonderful lakeside path.

This walk-in sculpture by the renowned Swiss artist Roman Signer offers a new perspective on reality.

Dreilindenpark – colloquially also known as “Konsipark” – is not only the largest public park in the city of Lucerne, offering breathtaking views, but also a place of culture. Originally the home of the Lucerne School of Music, this is where works of fine art are to be put on display in the future.

Where circus artists and people running stalls once entertained people, there is now what is without a doubt one of the most popular green spaces in the city of Lucerne: the Vögeligärtli. Its name – meaning the “bird garden” – comes from the aviary that was built in the park in 1901.

The Sonnenberg cogwheel train, called the “Little Blue Train,” whisks visitors in a few minutes to the multifaceted adventure mountain near Kriens, a leisure paradise and recreational area.

The city is located on the eastern shore of Lake Zug. This means that the sun sets on the other side of the lake.

The “Ufschötti” – the extensive expanse of greenery by the lake – is the place half of Lucerne heads for in the summer A 200-metre-long strip of sandy beach gives all its visitors real seaside vibes.

Lucerne’s lido sits on the shores of Lake Lucerne, spanning a length of over 300 metres.

The Seebad lakeside baths offer perfect seasonal bathing pleasure in the heart of the city of Lucerne. It is open for swimmers until 8 p.m. in summer, after which it is dedicated to restaurant-goers for the rest of the evening. As well as bathing, swimming, and sunbathing, massage and yoga are also available.

Two hotels accommodate visitors on Mt. Pilatus. The nighttime breezes are replaced by a spectacular sunrise in the morning.

Easily accessible by public transport from Lucerne, Mount Pilatus is the ideal adventure mountain for the entire family.

The landmark of Central Switzerland, and Lucerne's 'own' peak: Mount Pilatus. The Golden Tour by steamer, red rack-and-pinion railway and back via cable railways is the classic round trip.

It may not breathe fire, but it’s still hot: the “Dragon Ride” aerial cableway whizzes from Fräkmüntegg straight to Pilatus Kulm, over 2,132 m above sea level.

Young or old, adrenaline junkie or connoisseur, the Fräkmüntegg adventures on Pilatus have something that will appeal to everyone.

Lucerne’s Pilatus mountain (2,118m above sea level) boasts some of the most spectacular views in Switzerland. From the summit, you can see across the Central Swiss Alps and the Jura all the way to France and the Black Forest in Germany.

We invite all visitors to a stop-over on the Krienseregg Mountain when they ascend Mt. Pilatus on the world's steepest cogwheel train, or by means of the aerial cableway and the panorama-gondola.

Experience fast-paced tobogganing fun on Mount Pilatus: The 1350-metre-long Fräkmüntegg summer toboggan run offers thrills with a view of Lake Lucerne and the surrounding mountains.

The Rigi is the most visited mountain of Swiss people. With breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views, the Rigi offers a first-class mountain experience whatever the season. The cogwheel train from Goldau and Vitznau, as well as the cable car from Weggis, enable a variety of round trips, which can also be combined with a boat trip on Lake Lucerne.

Tobogganing on the so-called queen of mountains pledges the highest level of fun and enjoyment for people of all ages!

The ship station Vitznau, built in 1912, is one of the most important architectural buildings around the Rigi massif. Every day, guests arrive by boat in order to visit the Rigi by taking Europe’s oldest mountain cogwheel railway, which was constructed in 1871. The turntable connects the two track directions, with the mountain track and the depot track meeting at an obtuse angle. It is the central point of any prospective trip to the Queen of the Mountains.

The Hotel Rigi Kulm has been welcoming guests for almost 200 years.

Swim at 1433 meters in the mineral-rich spring water of the Rigi. The Mineralbad & Spa Rigi Kaltbad, designed by architect Mario Botta, offers indoor and outdoor pools with views of Lake Lucerne and the Alps.

The leisure park and sports facility is located in a scenic spot at the foot of Mt. Rigi, overlooking Lake Lucerne.

Rigi Staffel and Rigi First provide ideal winter sports facilities for children and beginners to learn how to ski.

Take the CabriO train to the Stanserhorn. On the open upper deck you can enjoy the wind and views, on the summit 100 kilometres of the Alpine chain, 10 Swiss lakes and marmots await you.

Enjoying the wind in one’s face and the perfect view: first on the open funicular – rumbling and bumping just as it did 120 years ago – and then on the rooftop deck of the futuristic CabriO aerial cableway.

The view from Stanserhorn overlooking ten Swiss lakes and 100km of Alpine mountains is quite superb. The 30-minute Stanserhorn circular trail is the best way to enjoy these 360-degree views.

100 kilometres of Alpine peaks, 10 lakes: the view from CabriO, the world’s first convertible-style cable car with a roofless upper deck, is as fascinating as unique. It is, however, not the first innovation on Stanserhorn – the funicular already featured a novelty in 1893, as that was the first time clasp brakes were used. A ranger welcomes the visitors at the Stanserhorn summit to show them where the most beautiful flowers bloom and the marmots live. The revolving restaurant Rondorama is a further acme.

In the middle of central Switzerland, the Bürgenstock cable car takes you 440 metres in altitude up to the Bürgenstock in just a few minutes. Once at the top, you have a fantastic view of Lake Lucerne, Mount Rigi and Mount Pilatus.

The imposing Bürgenstock, with its steep rock faces stretches along the southern edge of Lake Lucerne opposite the municipalities of Vitznau and Weggis. Thanks to the direct connection to the recreational area directly at the entrance of Lucerne, it takes just 30 minutes to travel to the Bürgenstock Hotel.

The Hammetschwand lift on the Bürgenstock is the highest outdoor lift in Europe. In less than a minute, it will take you 153 meters to the top. There you can expect a wonderful view of Lake Lucerne and the Alps.

The journey to the Titlis is truly an adventure in itself. First take the TITLIS Xpress gondola to the middle station, then continue your journey in the TITLIS Rotair, the world’s first revolving cable car, all the way to the top. There, the TITLIS tower awaits with endless views from the observation deck and much more to explore.

The Benedictine Monastery, built in 1120, forms the center of Engelberg. To date there are still approximately 30 monks living and working in the Engelberg monastery.

Gleaming metal, the smell of coal fire, the hissing steam, the sparks and the smooth working of the massive machinery completely captivate the passengers of the steam train.

In the distance you can see the Rütli meadow, the historic place where the forming of Switzerland is said to have occurred in 1291. With its 2,928 m (9,606 ft), the pyramidal peak of Urirotstock can be made out even farther in the back. The village of Seelisberg lies on a sunny terrace at 850 m.a.s.l. (2.788 ft), beneath the two mountains Niederbauen and Oberbauen. Lake Lucerne, in German literally ‘Four Forested Settlements Lake’, got its name because it is embedded in the four forest cantons of Uri, Schwyz, Obwalden and Nidwalden, and Lucerne.

The only 'mobile photo spot' on the Grand Tour of Switzerland. In 1928, Alois Waser-Bucher, an entrepreneur from Nidwald, took interest in the Beckenried–Gersau car ferry project and, subsequently, had a ferry constructed in Uerikon on Lake Zurich in 1929. On Whit Sunday 1930, the ferry service was opened with the motor vessel ‘Tellsprung’ (‘Tell’s Leap’) carrying 20 cars. In 1959, a local hotelier bought the ferry and had it extensively rebuilt by Bodan Wharf on Lake Constance. The new ferry, which can carry up to 45 cars, started its service on Whit Saturday 1964, and has been owned by the F&R Group Beckenried since 2016.

At this particular spot on the Lake Uri, William Tell allegedly escaped from bailiff Gessler by leaping out of a boat.

The Beckenried–Klewenalp cable car takes you comfortably to 1,600 metres above Lake Lucerne. A wide range of possibilities await you on Klewenalp – from varied hiking trails to excursion destinations such as Stockhütte or Niederbauen.

The funicular takes guests from the Treib landing stage in 8 minutes to the Seelisberg plateau, a popular vantage point. The mountain station is located on the “Swiss Path” leading to Rütli or Bauen. A variety of sights can be reached from the station in no time at all. The Treib–Seelisberg train connects with the PostBus to Beckenried/Stans.

The southern shore of Lake Lucerne in Nidwalden canton is served by several cable railways all year. The mountain stations, at heights of 1000 meters above the lake, afford superb views.
